Bangladeshi Students Entry Requirements

Bangladeshi Students, You will need to meet both the academic and English language requirements in order to get your UK university admission.

Please find below list of standard entry requirements for most popular courses, However, please note that some courses may have a different entry requirement or require further assessment, such as of work or interview, our experience student consultants will happy to advise you if further requirement necessary.

Undergraduate Degrees (Bachelor’s)

For entry to four-year extended degree programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  1.   A Higher Secondary School Certificate with a minimum Second Division.
  2.  English language requirements IELTS Minimum-5.0 Individual or Above

For standard entry to Bachelor’s programmes, ( 3 years) you will need to have met the following:

  1.  A Higher Secondary School Certificate with a minimum Second Division.
  2.  English language requirements IELTS Minimum -5.5 Individual or 6.0 Average.

Some Bachelor’s degrees allow advanced entry to year 2 or year 3, depending on your study history.
For advanced entry to Year 2 you will need to complete:

  1.  Two years of a relevant degree with a minimum of Second Class Result or above and IELTS 5.5 individual or above.

For advanced entry to Year 3 you will need to complete:

  1.  Three years of a relevant degree from any recognise university with a minimum Second Class result with
    IELTS 6.0 individual or above.
Postgraduate Degrees (Pre-Masters and Master’s) requirements:

For entry to our Master’s programmes, you will need to have met the following:

  1.  Four-year bachelor degree with a minimum of Second Class Result.
  2.  English language requirements IELTS Minimum 6.0 Individual, 6.5 average score or above.
  3.  Pre-Masters with combined to full masters course IELTS requirements Minimum 5.0 individual or above.

Pre-sessional English programmes are only available to students that have completed a UKVI approved IELTS
5.5 or above individual.

Visa information

All Bangladeshi nationals, need to obtain a student visa to be able to study in the UK university. Tier 4 General student visa is the main route for students to come to the UK for higher education. It is also important to refer to the information and Tier 4 Policy Guidance which is available on the Home Office website.

You should also check the visa processing times if you are applying from Bangladesh. The current visa fee is BDT 37,480 as the application fee . Also, you must pay BDT 37,480 per person for any dependents. Short-time study visa costs: BDT 10,447 for a 6-month visa BDT 20,033 for an 11-month visa. Students are allowed to come to the UK before six months of course starts date. When you Apply visa student must have to provide the following documentation.

More Visa information
  1.  a current passport or other valid travel documentation
  2.  a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your course provider

You may also need to provide:

  1.  proof you have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course - this will vary depending on your circumstances
  2.  a valid ATAS certificate if your course and nationality require it
  3.  proof of parental or other legal guardian consent if you’re under 18
  4.  proof of your relationship to your parent or guardian if you’re under 18
  5.  your tuberculosis test results
  6.  written consent for your application from your financial sponsor if you’ve received sponsorship for your course fees and living costs in the last 12 months

You may be able to apply for a short-term study visa if you are coming to do a course of 6 months or less.

Example One

A student is applying to study the International Foundation Year Programme from 14 September 2020 –
11 June 2021 at Leeds International Study Centre. The student will live in privately arranged accommodation. Course fees for the first year: £17,800 Course fees paid: £7,235

The student will study outside of London meaning living costs will be £1,015 per month of the course. The course duration is 9 months so the student must show £9,135 for living costs The course fees have been paid in part so the student must show evidence of the remaining £10,565 tuition fees. Living costs (£9,135) + unpaid tuition (£10,565) = the student must show evidence of £19,700 bank statement.

Example Two

A student is applying to study the International Year One Programme from 21 September 2020 – 04 June
2021 at Coventry University London The student will live in accommodation arranged by university and has
paid £2,000 towards this. Course fees for the first year: £14,500 Course fees paid: £9,000 .00

The student will study in London meaning living costs will be £1,265 per month of the course. The student is
living in accommodation arranged by university so a maximum of £1,265 can be deducted from the total
amount the student must show for living costs. The course duration is 9 months which would be £11,385 for
living costs, deducting the maximum amount that has already been paid towards accommodation (£1,265) the
student must show £10,120 for living costs The course fees have been paid in part so the student must show
evidence of the remaining £5,500 tuition fees. Living costs (£10,100) + unpaid tuition (£5,500) = the student
must show evidence of £15,620

Example Three:

A student is applying to study the International Foundation Year Programme from 14 September 2020 –
07 May 2021 at Liverpool John Moore’s International Study Centre The student will live in accommodation
arranged by university and has paid £1,000 towards this. Course fees for the first year: £12,500 Course fees
paid: £12,500

The student will study outside of London meaning living costs will be £1,015 per month of the course. The
student is living in accommodation arranged by university so £1,000 can be deducted from the total amount the student must show for living costs. The course duration is 8 months which would be £8,120 for living costs, deducting the amount that has already been paid towards accommodation (£1,000) the student must show
£7,120 for living costs The course fees have been paid in full so evidence of course fees is not required. The
student must show evidence of £7,120

Tuberculosis (TB) screening Test:

All Bangladeshi students who wish to stay in the UK more than 6 months must have to TB testing done at a clinic which has been approved by the UK Home office and require a certificate to apply UK student visa.

More Details:

Applicant should bring with valid identification which contains your photograph such as a passport, national ID
card and test fee when attending the clinic for test.

The fee must be paid in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) directly at clinic. The cost of the test is in addition to the visa
application fee. The fee is not refundable if the person is tested positive for TB or decides not travel to the UK, or
their visa is refused. Test fee $85.00 which is converted to taka latest exchange rate.

The test fee does not cover treatment if you already have TB. Test certificate is valid for six months.
You can contact any clinic to book an appointment either by telephone, email or visiting the clinic. You should
make it clear you need the test for a UK visa application.

National Health Service (NHS)

Under the tier-4 route Students coming to the UK 6 months or longer are required to pay a mandatory a health surcharge in order to access to National Health Service (NHS) .This currently charged £470.00 Pay NHS surcharge, if the granted visa includes the part of a year. Student has to pay NHS surcharge before they apply visa from outside the UK If you are residents of country that has reciprocal health care agreement then you will be eligible for some NHS treatment. Check what kind of treatment you eligible to receive before you leave your home.
